Blog 5: Changes to my study programme

Imagen
I'm in 4th year of psychology, and I would make more practical courses earlier in the career. In psychology, we have to do our practice during 5th year, and in 3rd year some of the elective courses have practical evaluations, but not many in 3rd year do that. I think that more courses can do practical evaluations, because in this evaluations the students need to link the theory and the real practice, and I think that this prepares you for your work future. Also, more practical evaluations early can help like a preparation for the 5 th year practice, so that the change and responsibilities be more manageable. Also, one change that the departament of psychology implemented this year was the "seminaries" in 4th year and it replace the thesis that you do in 5th year in past years. I think this is great because you work in groups of 4 during all of the 4th year in a specific theme and with a course dedicated only to this work. The only bad thing is that the themes are given...

Blog 4: Time travel to the past

Imagen
If time travel was possible, I wold like to go to the past and live again good moments of my life or make different choices. The future scares me, so I don't know if I like to see what the future looks like, I hope that it is good but I don't have hope for that. Also, If I go to the past I can go again to concerts, birthdays and parties that I know that where realy good! Or I could go and meet important people, and the most important, I could tell Felipe Camiroaga to never go in that flight, or avoid other tragedies. And I could go to a time where Centellas cost less that $150, I could buy so much stuff if I go to the past! I think that if a go to the past, I go to the last 10 to 15 years, but I don't know if I would stay there. I feel that I would go and visit good memories, people that I knew back then and bring back a lot of stuff. I think the reason for going back to the present is to share with my friends all the thing that I bring from the past so we can enjoy tog...

Blog 3: A job I would like to have in the future

Imagen
In the future I'm not very sure of what I would like to do, but one alternative is to be a legal psychologyst. A legal psychologist work in the jury system and in legal investigations. It is a area that interest me, even when it is a lot of work, but I find very interesting. In this kind of work, the psychologist helps in the making of reports that can help the final desition makin of the jury, but not in every case this reports are used.  But what really interest me is that legal psychologist are the ones that realy see how the law affects the real people involved. Also, changes in the law can be influence by legal psychologist and their work, for example, the introduction of a gender perspective in the law process. This kind of work is hard, and you have to know the law very well, but it is important, and for the moment it is a area of my interest, and I hope to specialize and work as a legal psychologist one day.

Blog 2: The best concert ever

Imagen
The best concert of all was in Santiago de Chile, at the National Stadium, where Justin Bieber played on My World Tour on October 15, 2011. It was the best day of my life, since at that time I was a huge fan and he was the love of my life at the moment so it was a dream come true. To introduce you to Justin Bieber, he comes from Canada and was born on March 1, 1994 in Toronto, Ontario. He started singing very young doing covers of songs, until he was discovered by a producer, releasing his first song "on time", and also it was the first single from his first album named "My World". When I arrived to the stadium I was very nervous, but everyone seem to having a great time, and everyone loved Justin's music so it was very nice to share this moment with people who share the same interest. I remember when Justin come up to the stage, all the people started jumping and screaming, including me, I remember the energy I feel and it was crazy!

Blog 1: I would like to visit Italy

Imagen
Hi everyone, today I would like to talk about why I want to visit Italy. In first place, I think Italy have the most beautiful places to visit, with ancient architecture, beautiful beaches and harbors, and a peculiar charm. If I visit Italy, I want to know the Pizza Tower, the Venice canals, Sicilia, The Toscana, Portofino, Capri island, Milán, Nápoles, Pompey and to many incredible places in Italy.  When Im there, I wold like eat a lot of pizza, lasagna, risotto and spaghetti, drink wine and go to parties and meet new people. Also, I wold like go to the beaches in Italy, take a boat and sail the open sea, sunbathe there, eat an ice cream and swim in the ocean, which for me equals paradise. On the other hand, I wold like to visit the city, meet the beautiful architecture, the streets with cobblestones, the Venice canals, the culture, the people who live there. Finally, if I traveled to Italy, I would like to stay and live there for maybe one or two years to wo...

Hello everyone, today I will tell you about a person I admire in my field of study. The person I admire is a Brazilian pedagogue, his name is Paulo Freire, probably people who study pedagogy or social sciences are familiar with him. Paulo Freire is very important for psychology applied to the educational context, he is recognized for his critique of traditional education or as he calls "banking pedagogy". It is teacher-centered and not student-centered, a type of pedagogy that does not consider or give importance to the experiences and knowledge of the students. As a result, he created the theory of the pedagogy of the oppressed, a new way of looking at education. He points out that every educational act is eminently a political and ethical fact, which implies that the work of teachers is linked to an ideological and not an objective fact. This type of education proposed by Freire seeks the full and authentic development of others, which seeks a full develo...

Post 5: How Can Your Major Make the World a Better Place

Imagen
Hello everyone, today I'll talk about how my specialty contributes to making the world a better place. Psychology is an interweaving of different theories and practices, within them one can find diverse lines in which one can work, for example, there is psychology applied to the clinic (which is perhaps the best known), to the educational context, to the community, to the organizational and to the juridical. All of them have in common that they seek to contribute to people's mental health. Mental health is considered to be a state of well-being both subjectively and physically. Psychology is a career that transforms people, who will be in charge of changing their own world and thus at some point be able to transform the world. Psychology gives the possibility to position mental health as one of the most important axes for the well-being of people. As psychologists we have a very big and delicate job because we are working with people's traumas and vulnerabilitie...

Hello everyone, today I am going to tell you about my favorite food. First of all I want to say that I am extremely picky with food, in fact I eat very few things for the same reason, because there are few things that I really like. One of them is potatoes in all its versions, it's a super versatile food and to everyone's taste. My favorite version of potatoes are french fries, I like their crunchiness and that it's a food that brings people together because it's a food that is shared with others. French fries are made by cutting the potatoes into sticks 1-2 cm thick, then let them rest to remove excess water, and finally fry them in very hot oil. After a few minutes they should be ready to enjoy. French fries are not the healthiest food there is due to the use of oil, however today there are other ways to prepare them such as in the air fryer where they are just as good but without the need for oil.

Post 3: My Favorite Piece of Technology

Imagen
Hello everyone, today I will talk about my favorite piece of technology. Honestly, I don't have many pieces of technology at my disposal, I only have a cell phone and a computer. I use my cell phone more often because it is more convenient and practical. Most of the things I do on the computer I can do on the cell phone, so this is my favorite piece of technology. I use it mostly for communicating with people and for university related things. I think if it weren't for my cell phone I wouldn't be able to find out about all the things that happen at the university. As for recommending its use is a bit conflicting, on the one hand, it's an object that makes things much easier for you, that gives you what you need immediately, which is very favorable. However, it's important to recognize that it is necessary to be very careful with the excessive use of this, especially at early ages.

Post 2: Why did I choose my major?

Imagen
Hello everyone, today I will tell you about my career and why I chose it. When I was a child, I don't remember thinking about a career to study in the future. Maybe I was thinking of the typical careers a child thinks of, doctor, astronaut, firefighter, etc. For me it wasn't an important issue at the time, in fact I honestly don't remember thinking much about it.  However, when I was 16 years old I thought about studying a career related to mathematics because it was easy for me to understand. However, one day a professor asked me if I wanted to work with numbers for the rest of my life, my answer was no. It was at that point that I decided to think about what was easy for me to understand and whether it was something I wanted to do for the rest of my life. It was at 17 when I had a psychology course in high school and I knew it was something I wanted to do for the rest of my life. My teacher at the time motivated me to do it and well, here I am, ...

Post 1: Who I am?

Imagen
Hello everyone, my name is Marcela Leyton Alvarado, I was born on June 30, 1997 in San Vicente de Tagua Tagua; a rural sector of the O'Higgins region. I live in Pichidegua, a town near San Vicente, there I live with my mom Betty, my dad Hector and my sister Claudia, I also have an older brother, Patricio, but he lives in another city. I entered to study psychology at the University of Chile in 2016, due to mental health problems I had to freeze the career for two years. From the second semester of 2019 I was able to resume my studies. I must admit that falling behind in my career makes me feel older than my classmates, however I am a young soul who is eager to continue learning in order to be a great professional in the future.
